New Album Released: Soundtrack for a Riot

    Soundtrack for a Riot
    Released June 26, 2026

Rather than trying to resurrect a rotting corpse, this album grows something new from the loamy failures of a society that converts widespread physical and spiritual suffering into wealth and power for those insulated from its consequences.

Soundtrack for a Riot by Ryan Ruiz marks a shift from abstract existential questioning toward something more grounded and action-oriented–an engagement with abolitionist ideas through story, place, and lived experience. Across the record, the focus moves from asking what things mean to asking what it takes to leave them behind, and what it costs to stay.

That shift is mirrored in the sound: a move from rock-forward electric instrumentation toward bluegrass-leaning acoustic arrangements, with a greater emphasis on narrative lyricism. The result is a rooted sound, suggesting that change, if it comes, has to be local, communal, and human-scale.

From decay comes the possibility of something new.
